53rd Annual New York's Village Halloween Parade

New York City's annual Halloween procession marks its 53rd year by celebrating the Year of the Horse under the Body & Soul theme. A mile-long procession of tens of thousands of costumed marchers, giant puppets, and marching bands fills Sixth Avenue. Leading the route is Firehorse, a special puppet commissioned by MacArthur Genius and master puppeteer Basil Twist, choreographed by Julie Atlas Muz, and produced by Barbara Busackino of Tandem Otter Productions. Participation requires costuming for those marching, and the event proceeds rain, shine, or wind.
