Want Christmas Dinner at NYC's Hardest-to-Book Prime Rib Spot? Set Your Alarm for 9 AM

A small West Village room, the prime rib people plan December around, and a booking clock that starts 21 days out.

Mark your calendar for the Christmas table drop.

🕘 The Nine O'clock Drop

On Christmas Eve the West Village goes quiet, and inside a small room on Charles Street the lights stay low, the booths are leather, and thin slices of prime rib come out under horseradish cream. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day are the three dates it serves from noon to 8.

Everything depends on the calendar behind it. Resy releases each new date 21 days ahead, at 9 AM New York time, so the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day tables surface around Dec 3 and Dec 4. Check the live Resy calendar for the confirmed date before you build a morning around it.

Be signed in to Resy before nine, with a card saved. A 5 dollar per person booking fee is added to every online reservation, and holiday booking fees may vary. Parties stop at six, and the house asks one group not to hold several tables.

If the morning goes badly, join the notify list straight away: it alerts you if a table opens in your window of time, and in a room this small one returned table is real.

Thanksgiving is the first of the three to be released, so it may already be taken. The same clock brings Christmas Eve and Christmas Day around roughly three weeks later.

No holiday menu is posted yet, so the regular menu is the honest guide: two English cuts at 79.99, a 25.99 Little Gem and one 16.99 side come to about 203 dollars before tax and tip.
