Manhattan Stops for Old Maps and Mended Jackets

Three Manhattan stops sit far apart in spirit. Anne Loftus Playground keeps Olmsted-era walls around its spray shower plaza, Arader Galleries deals in Audubon engravings and antique maps, and Arc'teryx SoHo takes damaged jackets in for repair.

Manhattan Playground Gallery and Gear

Olmsted Era Retaining Walls

Anne Loftus Playground brings together play equipment, picnic tables, game tables, and open game space for varied neighborhood recreation. The spray shower plaza replaced an earlier wading pool. These amenities provide settings for active play, table games, picnics, and use of the open game space. Public recreation is free to enter at this park, with daily hours from 6 AM to 1 AM the next day. The playground honors Anne Susan Cahill Loftus, an Inwood advocate remembered through the name of this community space.

Antique Maps on Madison Avenue

Botanical art provides a specialist focus at Arader Galleries, where prints and Audubon engravings sit within holdings that also encompass rare books and atlases. Watercolors and oil paintings represent additional media, alongside works concerning women and Native American heritage. Staff members bring specialist expertise in botanical art. Entry is free. Hours are ten in the morning to six in the evening Monday through Saturday, and eleven in the morning to five in the afternoon Sunday, with other times available by appointment.

Museum Style Retail Across Two Floors

Outdoor footwear and apparel shape the SoHo store, while the ReBird collection occupies the downstairs level. Damaged jackets can be dropped off for repair, with jacket care in the retail mix. The rear coffee bar provides another feature within the space. Across the Broadway location, footwear, clothing, ReBird pieces, and the repair drop off are all part of a two story setting. The store focuses on equipment for outdoor use, with retail displays and jacket care represented together under one roof.
